Cottage Field App — Privacy Policy

Cottage Field App is an Android surveying application operated by Cottage Surveys("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information the App handles and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What the App collects

• Location. Precise location while you are actively surveying.
• Photos. Photos you take inside the App (which may include location metadata).
• Sign-in details. Your name and work email, when you sign in to upload your work.
• Diagnostic logs. A local log of errors and app activity, kept on the device for troubleshooting.

How your data is used

We use this information only to record and store the survey work you capture, to authenticate you, and to fix faults if you report them. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or behavioural tracking, and we do not sell it.

Where your data goes

Survey data, photos, and exported reports you create with the App are uploaded to secure cloud storage operated by Cottage Surveys and hosted in Australia. Access is restricted to authorised Cottage Surveys staff and contractors. The App also contacts standard mapping and positioning services in order to function; these calls do not include personal information beyond what is needed for the request.

Retention

Survey records are retained for the lifetime of the relevant project and any statutory record-keeping period applicable to land survey work in Western Australia. Data stored on your device is removed when you delete the relevant job or uninstall the App.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the details below. If you believe we have breached your privacy, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner ( www.oaic.gov.au ).

Children

The App is intended for licensed surveyors and field staff over 18. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date above reflects the most recent change.
