What do the quote forms collect, and why?
The quote forms ask for:
- Your details: name, email address and phone number.
- The property: lot number, house number, street and suburb.
- The job: the type of survey, what the site will be (vacant, house demolished, or built behind or onto the existing house), and anything else you choose to tell us.
- For a subdivision: the type of subdivision, how many lots, your interest in the lot (owner, looking to buy, or marketing or selling it), what happens to the existing house, whether you are building or creating vacant lots, your local council, whether WAPC approval has been applied for, and when you want to start.
We use these details to prepare your quote, contact you about it, and, if you go ahead, carry out the survey. We don't sell your details, and we don't add you to a mailing list.
The form sends your request to our quotes team by email. If you email or phone us instead, we use what you tell us in the same way.
Does this site use cookies?
Yes, for Google Analytics only. This site uses Google Analytics 4, a Google service that tells us how the site is used, so we can improve it. It sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) that let it recognise a returning visitor. The cookies last up to two years.
Google Analytics tells us things like:
- which pages are visited, and for how long
- how visitors found the site, such as a search engine or a link
- the type of device and browser
- the approximate area a visit comes from, such as the city
It does not tell us your name, and we don't send it anything you type into the quote forms. Google processes this data on its own systems, which may be outside Australia, under Google's privacy policy.
A notice bar on the site tells you about these cookies when you arrive. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics. The site works the same without them.
Who else sees your information?
Only the people who need it to do your job:
- Authorities, when your job needs them, such as Landgate, the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), your local government, the Water Corporation and Western Power.
- Your builder, designer or architect, when you ask us to send them your plans.
- Our service providers, such as our email and website hosting, which store information for us.
How long do you keep it?
Survey records are part of the history of a property, so we keep job records for the long term. If a quote doesn't go ahead, we keep the request for [period to confirm] and then delete it.
How do you protect it?
Quote requests travel over an encrypted (https) connection. Job records are kept on our own systems, with access limited to our staff.
Can I see or correct my information?
Yes. Ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by phone on 08 9446 7361 or by email to reception@cottage.com.au. We may ask you to confirm who you are first.
How do I make a complaint?
Contact us first, by phone, by email to reception@cottage.com.au, or by post to 87–89 Guthrie Street, Osborne Park WA 6017. We aim to reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
What about other websites?
Links to other sites, such as our Facebook page, Google Maps and Google reviews, take you to services with their own privacy policies. The Client Portal is a separate system with its own sign-in.
Will this page change?
We will update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
