Western Power pegging: the front corner peg for your power dome

Western Power needs the front corner of your lot pegged, because that is where it installs the power dome: generally 0.5 m × 0.5 m inside the lot. Home owners and builders need this peg when a lot is having underground power installed. We place the peg; Western Power's contractor installs the dome from it.

When do you need Western Power pegging?

  • A new home on a new lot. Western Power asks for the front corner to be pegged before it installs the dome.
  • Western Power or your electrician has asked for it. If you are not sure, send us what they sent you.

What do you get from Western Power pegging?

A peg at the front corner of your lot, placed by a Licensed Surveyor from the registered plan. The dome then goes in just inside the lot from that corner, as the drawing shows.

How does Western Power pegging work?

  1. Ask for a quote. Tell us it is for Western Power, and send the property details, your contact details and any paperwork Western Power has sent you. We do not quote over the phone, so the online form is the quickest way.
  2. Get a written quote within 48 hours.
  3. We peg the corner. Once you accept, a surveyor visits and places the peg. Most surveys are done within about two weeks of booking. If Western Power has given you a date, tell us when you ask for a quote.
  4. Western Power installs the dome. Its contractor sets the dome from the peg, so leave the peg in place until the dome is in.

What else do people ask about Western Power pegging?

Why does Western Power need a surveyor's peg?

The dome sits just inside your lot, so the corner has to be in the right place. Only a Licensed Surveyor can re-establish a boundary corner in WA. A fence, a kerb or an old peg of unknown origin is not a reliable guide.

Is it the same as a boundary re-peg?

It is one corner of a re-peg: the front corner where the dome goes. A full boundary re-peg re-establishes every corner of the lot, and you get a Surveyor's Certificate (Regulation 25A) with a sketch of your boundaries on it.

I am having a re-peg anyway. Do I need a separate peg?

Usually not. If the whole lot is being re-pegged, the front corner is pegged as part of it. Tell us it is also for Western Power, so we know which corner matters.

What if the peg is disturbed before the dome goes in?

Don't put it back by eye. Call us and we will replace it, so the dome still goes in the right place.

Do new subdivision lots need it?

Yes, if they need underground power installed. Each new lot needs its own power connection, and in a subdivision we also peg the new boundaries during the alignment survey, so services go into the right lot. See subdivision surveys.

Areas: We work across all of Perth, north to Guilderton, east to Northam and Brookton, and through the South West as far as Bridgetown and Augusta. See South West surveys.
